Jessica Lee lives in the southeastern United States with her husband and son. She loves writing and can’t wait for that quiet time each day when her son is in school, and she can get lost in another place and world with the fantastical, sexy creatures in her head. She is a member of Romance Writers of America and Carolina Romance Writers.

Julie: Welcome, Jessica. Why don’t you start us off by telling us how you discovered/decided you wanted to become a writer?

Jessica: Hi Julie, Thanks so much! I discovered my passion for writing right after my son was born. I’d decided to retire from nursing and stay home with my child and during that time I discovered Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander series. I feel in love with the paranormal genre! And after some encouragement from my husband, I decided to stretch my wings and started writing. Wow, and I’m so glad I did! I’m so grateful to have found a new career that I love at this point in life.

Julie: What is your writing process? Do you outline, fly by the seat of your pants or a combination of both?

Jessica: I’m a combination of both. I do have to know where I’m going—the overall picture. I can usually see the beginning, middle, and end, but I’m not a chapter by chapter plotter. My characters usually lead me as to how they get to each point.

Julie: Give us a sneak peek into the writing life of Jessica and tell us about one strange writing ritual you have.

Jessica: Hmmm, not sure if it’s strange, but you’ll usually find a glass of iced coffee beside me. lol I do love writing in bedroom, but the door has to be closed as if I’m escaping into my own little world. I really enjoy having the window open, though, and hearing the sounds of the birds or rain.

Julie: If you were going to cast the hero of your book, what actor would get the part?

Jessica: Wow, let’s see… I’m thinking Alex O’Loughlin. He’s amazing.

Julie: I know you’re not supposed to show favoritism but who’s been your favorite character to write?

Jessica: That is a tough one. Because it always feels like your latest character is your favorite. But you never forget your first. So that would have to be a certain vampire named Kenric St. James.

Julie: Do you have a favorite TV show you can’t miss?

Jessica: I have several! We do love the DVR in our house. lol  TrueBlood, Being Human, Lost Girl, ( love SyFy channel!) The Big Bang Theory

Julie: If you could date any character from any book, who would it be and why?

Jessica: Oh my… That would be a tie between, Rhage from the Black Dagger Brotherhood, because I loved the way he loved Mary beyond her looks and her illness. Dageus from the Highlander series.  Loved his passion and strength!

Julie: Please share with us some juicy details about your latest release.

Jessica: Passion Awakened is an erotic contemporary romance with time travel elements. It tells the story of a romance writer who is on a solo retreat at her family’s vacation cabin in the mountains of NC. She’s there to complete her book but finds herself suddenly in a hostage situation. Things quickly go from scary to strange when the sexy man who saves her life tells her he’s from the future, his ride home has just been stolen, and his own supply of the drug he enforces gone with it.

Meet Creed Donovan, Sustain drug enforcer for the Federation of Americas is from the 27th century. Six-foot-two, black hair, blue eyes, and all alpha male. He’s the FOA’s top enforcer. A man who lives by the code he’s been sworn to protect. In Passion Awakened, he’s tossed into a situation that has him questioning everything he has believed in—that a world bound to the hormonal suppressant drug, Sustain may not be a better place. Creed feels he’s complete without a family, romance, or intimacy in his life. Having been born and raised in a virtually sterile environment, never feeling the heat of passion, he doesn’t know any other way.

That is, until he meets Shayla…

Julie: What was your inspiration behind this book?

Jessica: That would have to be my love for science fiction ( Star Trek TNG, Stargate)

Julie: Well thank you, Jessica for stopping by and answering my questions.
