Abigail Winthrope is in the witness protection program. She is being settled in a small hick town and will become a schoolteacher to small children. Abby is used to expensive business suits and power lunches, not lunches in the cafeteria.
Sheriff Seth Banner lives next door in a bed and breakfast. He is a Wolfen and an Alpha male. Seth was in Special Forces with three other friends before he became a sheriff in town.
Cameron Fontaine is also a Wolfen and an Alpha male of his own pack. He is Cajun and uses his accent to get the ladies. He owns and runs a nightclub/casino.
Adrian Paulson is also a Wolfen and an Alpha male of his own pack. He works in commercial construction.
Jerico Collins is also a Wolfen and an Alpha male of his own pack. He is the shy one of the four, well as shy as an Alpha can be. He runs a security consulting business.
Seth, Cameron, Adrian and Jerico are all in town for the mating festivities to find a mate. When they see Abby head into the house next door, each of the four decide that they want her and the battle is on. When they find out that her life in threatened, they each decide to protect her. They all stay at her house and take turns watching the house and picking her up in the afternoon to make sure she is okay. Abby begins to have feelings for not just one, but all of them after being so close to them. One afternoon she is abducted by two men in suits pretending to be FBI agents. They get her into the car, but are swarmed by what looks to be werewolves and are pretty much ripped apart in front of her. Abby is shocked to find out that they are Seth, Cameron, Adrian, Jerico and a few other Wolfen coming to her rescue. Now that she knows their secret, will it change how she feels about them?
Call of the Wolf by Madelaine Montague was fabulous! I love shapeshifter books and I have to admit that the wolves are becoming my favorite. This story helped with that and I think I have found a new favorite author. Madelaine lets you into Abby’s head and shows the fear and doubt she has through the book. All Abby wants is to fit in somewhere and make a home again. The way that she wrote about all four men wanting to mark her and watching each other like a hawk until the mating festivities start was just too funny. You have grown men acting like children and growling at each other. I loved every minute of it.
