Comprising Position by Stephanie Morris is a great read for many reasons. This contemporary interracial romance features a black woman and a man of Latin descent. The novel maintains an air of lightness that was refreshing and entertaining. The quandary between them makes for some very funny moments. Being privy to Kinsey’s thoughts also makes for some hilarious reading as she wrestles with her feelings for Javier. The novel is just over two-hundred pages and is a fast read with an entertaining plot and engaging characters. Readers will be absorbed as Kinsey and Javier skirt around their true feelings. The dialogue between Kinsey and Javier is entertaining from their very first meeting and throughout the novel. There is an instant connection they share that is evident, even when they are at odds with each other. Javier’s reluctance to commit to Kinsey is very discouraging. The hard days following Javier’s rejection are heart wrenching but thankfully, Javier comes to his senses. Javier may be from a dysfunctional family but he can chose the kind of family he wants to create with Kinsey if he gives them a chance.

Kinsey Maxwell is suffering from writer’s block as she tries to write the steamy scenes for her latest romance novel. Finding inspiration is difficult considering the bulk of her sexual experience is one unsatisfactory college romp. Her editor’s suggestion of a male escort is extreme, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Tech solutions wiz Javier Elizondo’s dreams are coming true after sealing a major deal. He’s celebrating with a drink when a beautiful black woman prepositions him to join her in her hotel suite. Imagine Kinsey’s horror to discover the man she spent the most passionate night of her life with is not the male escort she hired but a total stranger. Javier caught on that Kinsey was expecting someone else but one taste of her and he’s in too deep to confess his identity. Kinsey gets the last laugh when she turns the tables on Javier and walks away. Unfortunately, Kinsey is forced to see him again when Javier is hired by her firm. Kinsey is unsure she can survive being around Javier for any period of time because in one instant she wants to strangle him and the next she wants to rekindle their bedroom games.
