Rowan Belmont had plans of starting over in San Francisco after a brief stay with her sister. The hard life she had lived working at the mill and the betrayal of her ex-fiancé made it necessary to move on. After getting robbed by a cut-purse, she would have to pawn the diamond engagement ring her fiancé had given her if she hoped to be on the next train. Coming face to face with the charming and sexy man who had come to her rescue was not on her agenda but when she accepts that there is no choice she agrees to his offer–three months and she would be on her way to a new life. A new life without the sexy man that has given her new hope that she could find true love after all.
Marcel Champlain was taken with the quiet beauty with the sad face from the moment he saw her. His hopes that they would have a chance to get to know each other seemed very slim with her determination to leave town in the opposite direction that his life was leading him to. Setting eyes on her in his family’s store was a pleasant surprise and could work to his advantage. Offering the woman a way out of the circumstances she found herself in came with only one flaw…her body was hands off for the time they were together but there was nothing saying she couldn’t put her hands on him.
This story was a very enjoyable and entertaining bedtime read. Snuggled up in the covers, I became very captivated by Marcel and Rowan’s tale as they forged a path towards a passionate and loving future together. I liked their flirty and smart conversations as they bonded their lives together despite the circumstances that brought them into what was supposed to be a temporary situation. I will look forward to snagging more Ann Mayburn reads in the future.
