Game of Smoke and Mirrors by Wynter Daniels is a fast read with interesting characters and a storyline that is imaginative and worth the read. This interracial romance opens with a shocking murder and continues with one climatic moment after the other. When Zack appears in the novel the sexual tension between him and Jia is immediate and both are affected by the other’s appearance despite being prisoner and jailer. Jia believes some prejudice is involved with the authorities being so ready to point the figure at the black woman but Zack sees Jia as a desirable woman who is in a terrible predicament and wants to help. Zack and Jia have a connection from the beginning and, deny all they want, their chemistry is enough to keep that cabin warm. Readers are in for some titillating moments when Zack drops his guard and Jia drops her pants. Zack is a great guy and despite compromising his position by sleeping with Jia; he maintains objectivity about her guilt or innocence. Readers will most certainly enjoy the shocking ending and the hot love scenes.

Jia Tinsdale Mason is accused of killing her husband and is in the hands of extradition specialist, Zack Sizemore. What starts out as a routine assignment turns into a fight for life soon after they are stranded in a snow storm and are forced to rely on each other. Along the way Zack discovers Jia’s husband isn’t dead but purposely staged his murder to implicate her and Jia realizes she never experienced love until she met Zack. Unfortunately, Zack must make the hard decision of turning in the woman he loves and leaving it up to the justice system to clear her name. Luckily for them, Jia’s husband comes out of hiding and his whole plan backfires when his mistress becomes unglued and takes matters into her own hands. There is a chaotic ending with gunfire and when the smoke clears, Jia is cleared of all wrongdoing and Zack is cleared to love her openly.
