Captain Liam McDonnell had been away from the McFarland keep for too long. His need to fight a war many considered not his to fight left him disowned and outcast from the only family he had left now that his Da had left this world. He never imagined being welcomed back with any kindness and he never imagined the woman he had left behind would be wed to his brother and the lady of the keep, a place that was rightfully hers but with him standing beside her not a man who had no desire to continue ruling in his brother’s stead now that he had returned.
Isobel McLaren had once thought she would hold on to Liam’s heart forever but when he abandoned her to follow a war that wasn’t his she had to forget the one man who had stirred her passion. She was Robbie’s wife now, Lady McDonnell. She would not betray him. She would stand by her husband despite the pull Liam still has on her. She would push aside her feelings for him the same way he pushed her aside and left her years ago.
With the clan descending on the McFarland keep with the desire to name a successor for laird if Robbie passed without issue, the timing for Liam’s arrival was perfect for the plan that Robbie had devised. He would have an heir despite the obstacle currently in the way of expanding their family, but he must convince Liam and Isobel to follow their hearts and let the McFarland clan once again be lead by the most powerful McFarland laird of all.
Exciting, arousing and romantic, Laird’s Return had my attention riveted from the beginning. The characters evoked extremely deep emotion in me as I read their story and wrapped myself up in their plight. Liam and Isobel are perfect intimates and their situation brings happiness to not only themselves, but the man they both love as he is allowed to follow the path he desires.
