Here’s to another week ended – the Olympics are in full swing and author friends have come home from RWA…and some are now preparing to head to New Orleans for Authors After Dark. It’s definitely a busy summer.
First, our congratulations to all of this year’s RITA and Golden Heart winners, and to Brenda Jackson for her RWA Lifetime Achievement Award.
Elsewhere in the publishing/book world:
- Fifty Shades of Grey has outsold the Harry Potter series on Amazon UK. JK Rowling doesn’t appear bothered, however. She’s busy launching a new Harry Potter Book Club with Scholastic.
- Sales are down in Q2 for Harlequin, but profits have risen due to digital growth.
- Ruby Lioness Press has sadly closed their doors.
- This past week, too, we have lost two notable figures in publishing, bestselling authors Maeve Binchy and Gore Vidal.
