We’d like to wish our friends in the US a happy Labor Day weekend. If you have Monday off, we hope you enjoy the time with your families. There’s plenty to read here if you find yourself wanting something to do.
Otherwise, it’s been a rather eventful week in publishing, print and digital:
- The Dorchester Publishing saga may be coming to an end. Amazon has reportedly acquired 1000 contracts. Authors have been given the opportunity to publish with Amazon or have their rights returned to them.
- Hachette, Simon and Schuster, and Harper Collins will pay $69 million in a settlement over eBook pricing.
- Thinking of getting a Kindle Fire? It appears they have sold out, but rumor has it a new version is on the way.
- Lastly, don’t forget that voting ends soon on the ARe Hottest Heroes contest! We’re down to two, and every vote counts.
