Under The Mask by Aliyah Burke is a short but very entertaining read featuring an interracial couple. Entrepreneur Rand Paxton is Native American while crisis counselor Kailey Cox is African-American. They make an interesting couple not because of their difference but because they share a past. Kailey was a popular cheerleader back in high school while Rand was that guy with potential that everyone overlooked because he wasn’t a jock. I particularly liked this story because while Kailey and Rand present ...more

If You Dare by Aliyah Burke is the second novel in the Taken Series. I love Ms. Burke’s works and If You Dare is another wonderful and memorable novel. The stories feature the incidents that change the lives of three friends. Kathryn Maynard, who seems the most jaded of all three, experiences something that changes her view of love and commitment. Kathryn’s job as a divorce attorney makes her leery of love and marriage. On an Alaskan cruise, she meets Justin ...more

For This Week:
I read this book maybe ten years ago. It’s about a woman who keeps men locked up in her basement and schools them (actually gives classes) ...more
When Stars Collide by Aliyah Burke is an entertaining novel that will keep you engaged to the end. This interracial romance features another Kysenzki brother and is as enjoyable as the others. Ms. Burke has a way of creating male characters that are 100% alpha males but with a gentle side when it comes to handling their women. This is a very sexy quality and Cort is drowning in it. Zémire is a full-figured, African-American beauty and it seems the Kysenzki ...more
Born to Fly: Wild As The Wind by Aliyah Burke is an interracial romance and another great novel about the Stark brothers. The story is appealing because Verity’s profession is unusual for a female and the storyline is made more interesting by the danger they face right after meeting each other. Dominic is every woman’s dream, from his uniform to his tanned good looks. Verity is an intellectual but she comes across as very informal and down-to-earth. There isn’t ...more
In The Detective’s Lover by Aliyah Burke, Ian Cavanaugh is a homicide detective working the murder of Gregory Maddox, head of the Maddox clan. Fallon Maddox is a Marine and she’s home to bury her father. After hearing the details of her father’s death, she is convinced there is more than the cops are letting on. Ian is captivated by Fallon’s natural beauty but she is accusing him and his brothers in blue of a cover up. After ...more
DEA Agent Taber Kysenski’s reputation as a no strings attached kind of guy is well known. Serefina LeBenoit is a kickass ATF agent but years ago, her fiancé walked away on their wedding day choosing his career with the DEA over a life with her. Now all her hook ups are for sexual release; nothing more. Their paths cross when a joint task force operation goes awry. Taber has Serefina to thank for saving his life but it is ...more
The characters in Born to Fly: You Save Me felt like friends of mine because they were so well developed. The plot is simple but very enjoyable and the sexual chemistry between Garrick and Delaney is off the charts. Other characters create further color and depth to the story such as Delaney’s extremely dysfunctional family and Garrick’s base mate, Hollywood with his woman troubles. Delaney is very laid back and speaks her mind which is very refreshing. I have ...more
This was an arresting story about love at first sight, absolute attraction to each other, and dedication to personal life goals. Ms. Aliyah Burke has done a good job of following the plot of this book. Her main characters are dynamic, sensual people who get lost in the attraction to each other. The main sub-characters are well developed and interesting in their dealings with the main characters.
Burke’s storyline is very interesting and hard to put down. It is explicit and quick to get to ...more
