If you spend much time shopping at All Romance and OmniLit, odds are that eventually you will encounter eBook Bucks. You may receive them as a rebate, you may have them gifted to you by a friend, or you may choose to purchase them yourself. When this happens, you will want to know how to use your wonderful ebucks to purchase books, and Digimonkey’s going to help you!
Unassigned eBook Bucks
When you receive Bucks as part of a rebate or you purchase them yourself, they arrive in your Library as Unassigned eBook Bucks.
At this point, the Bucks are in a “waiting room” and need to be assigned to an account so that they can be used for a purchase. To assign Bucks, click on the Access/Gift link. A window will open with a listing at the bottom that shows the amount of the Bucks to be assigned and boxes for the recipient’s email and name.
If the number to the left of the Access/Gift link in the Library is greater than one, you will see multiple listings, each with an Amount of Bucks to be assigned to an account. You can assign the Bucks to your account or, if you’re feeling generous, to the email address of your soon-to-be best friend.
Click on the small white check box to the left of the amount, enter the email address of the recipient in the two text boxes (be certain to use the email address associated with your ARe account if you’re assigning them to yourself) and the Recipient’s name. Click Assign Omni Bucks. When you return to your Library, you will discover that the total for the Bucks you assigned to your account is now listed as Available eBook Bucks.
Pending Gifted Bucks
But what if when you return to your Library after assigning the Bucks the total for your Available eBook Bucks hasn’t changed and you now see a listing for Pending Gifted Bucks where the Unassigned eBook Bucks used to be?
Pending Gifted Bucks occur when the email address entered when the Bucks were assigned does not match an account in the ARe/OmniLit system. This means one of two things.
Reason One: The Bucks were gifted to someone who does not currently have an ARe account. As soon as they create an account using the email address entered, the Pending Gifted Bucks will disappear from your Library. No further action from you is required.
Reason Two: The email address entered was supposed to match the one associated with an existing ARe account, but it contained an error (missing or wrong character). Because the system can’t assign Bucks to an account that doesn’t exist, these Bucks show up as Pending.
However, it’s a very easy fix! First, go to Digimonkey’s Help section, and in the ARe/OmniLit Tips, click on Ebook Bucks, Rebates and & Discounts, then Pending Omni/eBook Bucks.
Click on the link for the “Reset eBook Bucks” ticket, which will open a ticket with your name and email address already filled in. Below that, you’ll see a link for “Choose from unclaimed credits”. Click on it.
The listing that appears will show any Pending Bucks in your account. Select the one you want to reset, which will automatically fill in the Assign Date and Recipient Email text boxes in the ticket. Click on “Submit Trouble Ticket” and WHOOSH!! The Pending Bucks will magically transform back into Unassigned eBook Bucks, which you can then reassign to the correct email address.
Redeeming Available eBook Bucks
All that Assigning and Pending is well and good, you say, but Digimonkey, how do I use my Bucks to buy ebooks? Aha! It’s as simple as simple can be IF you follow one important rule.
THE RULE: Ebook Bucks are a form of payment, not a credit, and because you are only allowed to use one form of payment when making a purchase (credit card, Paypal OR eBook Bucks), the total in your Cart must be less than or equal to your Available eBook Bucks to use eBook Bucks.
If that condition is met, then on the Payment page during Checkout you will see a third payment button appear that says “Pay with eBook Bucks”.
The system will also list your Current eBook Bucks balance so that you can see exactly how much you have Available to pay for the purchase, in case you want to go back and add another book or two, funds permitting!
Click on the Pay with eBook Bucks button. The total for your purchase will be deducted from your Available eBook Bucks balance and the books will be sent to your Library.
EBook Bucks. Simple. Convenient. Fun. Happy shopping!
