Digimonkey Tips: Archiving Books in the Library

If you’re anything like Digimonkey, you have a lot of books. Lots and lots of books.  Lots and lots and LOTS of books.  And books take up space, even on a virtual bookshelf. It didn’t take very long for Digi’s All Romance ebook Library to resemble the digital equivalent of the Empire State Building, and Kong could have climbed to the top of that famous building before Digi could scroll all the way through her Library. Not good.

Digi had two big problems. First, her TBR books and her “keepers” were mixed in with those she had already read so she was having trouble finding the books she wanted to lay her paws on.  Second, it took a long time for her website browser to load her All Romance Library because there were so many books to be displayed. Digimonkey wanted to solve both problems so she asked the staff at All Romance for help.  They taught Digimonkey about the Archive feature, and now she’s going to share her new wisdom with you.

The Archive is a separate page within the Library itself that you can use to place books out of sight so they will not be displayed when you click on the My Library link. They’re still available in case you need them at a later date, but by placing them on the Archive page, your main Library page will load quicker and it will be cleaner and more organized. That was exactly what Digimonkey was looking for!

How do you place books onto the Archive page?  And how do you reach it if you want to move a book back to your main Library?  Digimonkey’s glad you asked!

Step One: Login to your account and click on My Library

The My Library link

Step Two: At the top of the Downloaded Books section, you will see a heading at the far right for “Archive”, and underneath, a white box for each book.

Look for the Archive listing!

Step Three: To add a book to the Archive page, left click in the white box. A checkmark will briefly appear and then the page will refresh and that particular book will no longer appear in your main Library.

Step Four: To view your Archive, click on the “Show archived titles” link just under the Available eBook Bucks listing at the top of your Library.

Show Archived Titles

Step Five: To return to your main Library, click on the “Show non-archived titles” link (in the same location as the previous link).

Digimonkey would like to point out that you can always move books from the Archive back into the main Library by clicking on the white “Un-archive” checkbox that is located in the same spot as the “Archive” box in the main Library.

Unarchive

Now you’re ready to do some serious clutter control and get your main Library back to manageable proportions.  Digi’s thinking a nice banana tree sized Library would suit her much better than a New York skyscraper sized one, and she’s guessing most of you will agree with her. Happy organizing!
